Your pH Loves TrueCider

By Cheryl Lee

November, Movember, Ready, Set, Go!

Are you suffering from dry, itchy skin?  Could it be eczema?  Outlined below is a simple explanation of what could be causing your skin issues, as well as a simple solution for most people.

Experts have discovered that the root cause of the genetic form of eczema, called atopic dermatitis, is not allergies to food, allergies to chemicals, or even inflammation.  The root cause is an elevated skin barrier pH. People who have eczema cannot acidify their skin barrier–leading to inflammation, infection, allergy and itchy, rashy skin.

TrueCider, the world’s first patent-pending skin barrier acidification technology, is designed to help the skin barrier pH stay in its naturally acidic range of 4.6 to 5.6.

With eczema, the skin barrier pH is elevated between 6 and 7, which can lead to the following five problems and ultimately to eczema:

#1. Skin barrier lipid production: A low skin barrier pH controls the enzymes in your skin that make its lipids, or fats.  These lipids help your skin to hold on to water and they help your skin to naturally fight infection from Candida and bacteria like Staph. aureus.  When the pH is above 5.7, your skin stops making these lipids and the skin barrier breaks down.

#2. Antibiotics:  Your skin naturally makes its own antibiotics called “Antimicrobial peptides”, or AMPs.  The AMPs are manufactured by enzymes that only function in a low pH environment.  These AMPs naturally fight all kinds of infection including Candida, Staph, P. Acnes (the organism that causes acne), and many other organisms.  When the skin pH goes above 5.7, the skin barrier stops making antibiotics, causing the skin to get infected and the skin barrier to  break down even more. Itchy, scratchy, oozy skin is the result.

#3. Inflammation: Studies have shown that the first stages of inflammation in eczema are also triggered by an elevated pH.  As you probably know, the inflammation in eczema can easily get out of hand and trigger a huge eczema flare.  Studies have also shown that acidifying the skin barrier in babies who are prone to developing eczema can prevent the development of inflammation AND eczema.

#4 Allergies:  People who have eczema are more likely to be allergic to certain chemicals compared to people who do not have eczema.  This allergic pathway is also triggered by the elevated pH.  Nickel allergy, the most common contact allergy in the world, is directly correlated to an elevated skin barrier pH.

#5. Cellular turnover:  We all know that smooth, healthy skin must slough off, or turn over, on a regular basis.  In eczema, this does not happen because the Calcium gradients in the skin are unbalanced.  Your skin’s pH ALSO controls the calcium levels in the skin that control normal, healthy skin barrier turnover.

TrueCider is a patent-pending combination of organic apple cider vinegar along with two other skin-friendly acids that aids the skin to find its most natural pH. For best results, apply True Cider Serum once or twice a day before you apply the TrueLipids Ultimate Eczema Kit.

You’ll soon see soft, smooth and happy skin with the help of CherylLeeMD Sensitive Skin Care.
