Healthy Skin Starts With Healthy Food

Happy SPRING!

As the days begin to get longer, and the sun shines brighter and warmer, we begin to emerge from the winter doldrums.  Just like the lumbering bears waking up from their winter nap, we need to wake up and start to get ready; to wear shorts, sleeveless tops and dare I say bathing suits!

Of course our CLMD Skin care products can get your skin in tip top shape, but when beginning to choose a Springier lifestyle it is important to consider all aspects.  An overall healthier lifestyle can be achieved by making a few adjustments to your current regimen.

One of the easiest things you can do is substitute ingredients in meals you are already accustomed to making. One of the most common meals that people make is Spaghetti.

What if there was a healthy alternative to pasta and  didn’t require too much work. (Let’s be honest there are not many people who have time to home make healthy noodles) Well there is an alternative! It takes under an hour to cook, and is just as tasty, with far fewer calories!

Step 1:
Cut the Spaghetti Squash horizontally down the center, and pre-heat the oven to 450 degrees.

Step 2:
Take a spoon and scrape out the insides of the Squash.

Step 3:
Prep the Squash by taking any sort of cooking oil and lightly spread it across the surface of the squash.

Step 4:
Add 1 Teaspoon of Garlic to each side of the Squash and spread it around a bit.

Step 5:
Take your baking sheet/pan (any size that will fit both squash) and flip the Squash to be face down on the sheet/pan. Parchment paper is great to use to help with cleanup.

Step 6:
Bake at 450 for 30 minutes.

Step 7:
Take the Squash out and allow to cool for about 5 minutes. Then take a fork and shred the squash from side to side. (It should fall apart pretty easily) Put the Squash in a bowl as you shred it.

Step 8:
Add in the Spaghetti sauce of your choosing. Do look at the labels and choose one that has lower sugars added.

Step 9:
To serve put it back into the shell of the Squash and add a little bit of Parmesan Cheese, or you can add a bolognaise sauce.  What a great way to continue to enjoy your Spaghetti nights, with a much healthier version.  Enjoy!
