Continuing our Success Stories Series, we are delighted to share the experience of Rachel Cook and baby Sadie, a wonderful mother with a beautiful little girl who used to suffer from eczema.
As 2014 was coming to a close, late in the afternoon on Dec. 30, while picking up her children from school, Dr. Cheryl Lee Eberting saw a mother, Rachel Cook, sitting on a bench holding her sweet, but miserable baby daughter Sadie on her lap. “Rachel was practically in tears as she sat in the lobby of the school and told the receptionist that the pediatrician had prescribed an antibiotic for the fourth time because her baby’s eczema was infected.” said Dr. Eberting. “Baby Sadie looked miserable with crusted scabs all over her face. She was clearly very uncomfortable and I couldn’t just stand there and say nothing!” said Dr. Eberting.
Seeing Rachel’s distress and baby Sadie’s painful condition, Dr. Eberting asked if she could help baby Sadie. Rachel actually followed Dr. Eberting back to her office where she learned how to care for baby Sadie’s eczema and how to use the TrueLipids® products.
Later, Rachel shared photos of her beautiful little Sadie on our Facebook page. Due to the many responses, we asked Rachel a few of questions in a follow up e-mail interview:
Question: How old was Sadie when you started using TrueLipids?
Rachel: Sadie was 6 months old when we started using TrueLipids.
Question: What other products did you try before using TrueLipids?
Rachel: We had tried all the “hypoallergenic” lotions and steroid creams from the doctor two different times. At one point I was putting Aquaphor® all over her body attempting to keep it moisturized. I had honestly spent so much money on different soaps and lotions… all saying that they were hypoallergenic, yet none of them worked on her skin. Her skin reacted to all of the lotions and soaps. The Aveeno® lotions that are specifically for eczema were the last products I tried. I believe it made her much worse.”
Question: In your Facebook post you mentioned that you had been to see many doctors. What were you told to try and what guidance was given to you before you met Cheryl Lee (Dr. Eberting)?
Rachel: “As far as pediatricians go, we had been to see one every week since Sadie was 2 months old. She wasn’t eating well and her skin was horrible. They first suggested switching her to soy formula. Within 24 hours her skin broke out in hives and she was blotchy from head to toe. We went back in and I was given a steroid cream and told to “give it another week and see what her skin does”. She was miserable. Itching, digging, scratching, and oh the crying!
I went in a week later and was told to start feeding her Nutramigen® (Enfamil®) or Alimentum® (Similac®). At that point she started eating, but the eczema was worse—pussy and bleeding from constant her scratching. This cycle went on for a couple months. The day I saw Dr. Eberting I had just left my pediatrician’s office with a script for a new steroid and an antibiotic for a bacteria that they said was growing on top of her eczema.
I was distraught and so sad. Ready to give up. It was that day I saw her. After speaking with Cheryl Lee, learning about eczema, getting the TrueLipids products, and applying them, Sadie’s skin changed within 24 hours. I could see a huge difference and so could my skeptical husband. It didn’t take long for us to become hooked!
No one had ever told me or advised me about eczema or sensitive skin. I kept hearing, “she will grow out of it”. Between the TrueLipids and advice from Dr. Eberting, I finally felt calm and at peace!
