Exfoliating Your Skin

The world of skin care… walking down an aisle in any cosmetic store and you may feel overwhelmed by the number of skin care products there are from which to choose. Never mind the marketing geniuses who make the bottles look appealing with our favorite colors, flashy designs and even sparkles. But which one is actually best for your skin type?

If you were blessed with beautiful, normal skin, congratulations! It truly is a gift that you can treasure your whole life. But even normal skin can use a little tender love and care. Exfoliating is a wonderful way to brighten up your skin. Try using one with jojoba beads as they are gentle and good for the environment. Stick with all natural products to keep your skin looking fresh and bright.

For oily skin, we recommend not over exfoliating because that can increase your oil production. Try a regimen of scrubbing every 2-3 days and adjust as needed. Scrubs work better for oily skin because it helps break up the impurities. Dermatologists say the best products to use on oily skin contain charcoal which help absorb any excess oil.

Anyone with dry skin is tempted to exfoliate more to get rid of the flakes but that can be the worst thing you can do. We recommend using a washcloth with your favorite cleanser so you can control how much you exfoliate. The most important thing is to properly moisturize your skin. There are many products to choose from at CherylLeeMD or you can use virgin coconut oil which will help repair your dry skin.

3 Rules of Exfoliating

Always exfoliate at night because your skin is more apt to absorb other treatments like anti-aging cream or pore reducing tonics after you remove dead skin. Treat yourself to a nightly regimen of exfoliating and pampering for a glowing complexion. For velvety smooth skin, use the Timeless Trio after exfoliating the dead cells off your face. These three pack a powerful combo that help hydrate, sooth and keep skin looking young.

If you wish to exfoliate every night, always be sure to rehydrate your skin. Yes, removing the dead skin cells make for a more beautiful face but it also leaves it open to drying out. TrueCider Face and Body Serum will help keep skin soft, hydrated and is great on all skin issues from eczema to acne. Made with organic apple cider, the serum works on your face and body and helps to balance your pH levels.

Sometimes we get overzealous in our desire for smooth skin and exfoliate too much. If this happens, take a break for a week from your normal regimen. Try using TrueLipids Hydrate, Correct and Perfect lotion which will help soothe your raw skin. It is also great for eczema and other skin issues because it is made with licorice extract which is an all natural anti-inflammatory.

No matter which products you choose, always test them out first before making it part of your daily regimen. There are few things worse than having an allergic reaction on your face. All the products at CherylLeeMD are great for all skin types and helps skin inflammation.
