Whether you are dealing with dry weather during the winter or you are someone who has always had a tendency for dry skin, it will become increasingly important for you to keep your body moisturized. Of course, there are always a number of amazing products available on the market that are made to hydrate the outside of your body, including hydrating lotions, moisturizing body washes and more. However, there are some incredible foods that you can add to your daily diet to help you hydrate your body effectively from the inside out.

Water

While this may seem like a no-brainer, there are a lot of people that are not getting enough water each day for proper hydration. If you are unable to drink several glasses of water each day, you can think about adding in water-rich foods including watermelon and cucumber.

Avocado

The simple avocado is a wonderful source of a range of nutrients, including both vitamins C and E. In addition to vitamins, avocado is also rich in monounsaturated fats that are beneficial for helping your skin to lock in moisture.

Salmon

Salmon, along with other fish that contain healthy fats, can be incredible for hydrating your skin. Herring, mackerel, anchovies, sardines, rainbow trout and of course, salmon, are all great for high levels of omega-3 fats. These fats help to strengthen the cells in your skin, protect you from sun damage and skin cancer, while also reducing inflammation in the body. Some fish also contains a nutrient known as selenium, which can help to preserve elasticity in the skin and keep it smooth, supple and tight.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

This is a widely used oil in a variety of dishes today and it is loaded with all sorts of good fats and vitamin E. Extra virgin olive oil can also be wonderful for use on the outside of the body as a topical application on the skin in addition to consumption.

Spinach

Leafy greens like spinach are packed with omega-4 fatty acids, iron and vitamins like A, B and E. These come together to create a powerhouse that not only protects your skin but also improves your immune system. The folates and phytochemicals in spinach can also work to hydrate your skin and work on keeping it healthy.

Eggs

High in protein, eggs can help with the regeneration of cells within the body. There is also a decent concentration of lutein and sulfur, which can work to hydrate the skin and boost elasticity. Some people also like to use eggs in a topical application by whipping up egg whites and smoothing onto the neck and face. If you have an egg allergy, this one is unfortunately a no-go for you.

Fruits

It goes without saying that there are a lot of different fruits that are incredibly beneficial for the skin, especially when it comes to health and hydration. Many fruits will contain a high concentration of vitamins A and C, both of which are great antioxidants that help to replenish nutrients in your skin, work to promote the production of collagen and also help to keep your skin firm and supple. Just a few of the amazing choices that you can use in your diet each day for better skin include pineapple, cantaloupe, grapefruits, blueberries, strawberries, mangoes, watermelon and oranges.

With all of these options and many more, you too can hydrate your skin from the inside out. In addition to a quality skin care regimen using products that hydrate on the outside and a well-rounded diet of smart choices for your skin, you are going to be able to achieve incredible results and wonderfully hydrated skin.
