We’ve probably all experienced that awkward moment when you look in the mirror to get ready to go out and a new pimple has reared its ugly head on your face! It’s probably one of the worst ways to start your day. We all want to look our best, but acne and other skin problem can sometimes seem to get in the way. We’ve come up with a few don’ts, and some really awesome Do’s to help you look and feel your best!
When that nasty zit rears its white head, resist the urge to pop it. Picking at your skin and popping zits, is one of the worst things you can do. As satisfying as it may be, you can cause infections, discolorations and inflammation. Try using some benzoyl peroxide or even better, pick up TrueLipids Isotretinoin Treatment Survival Kit which contains everything you need to combat acne and have glowing skin.
Another common thing we do at home is to overdo it. If the directions on acne creams say to apply a thin layer, more is better right? Wrong! Follow the directions accordingly. Too much of a good thing, when it comes to skin health, can cause unnecessary drying and cracking of your skin. Some skin treatments have chemicals in them which can actually cause burns if too much is used or left on too long. This goes for exfoliating too. It’s not something that needs to be done every day, especially if you have dry, sensitive skin. Follow the directions on the label and your skin will receive the full effects without overdoing it.
Alcohol is a common ingredient in many astringents and other skin care products. We think it’s beneficial because of the sanitizing smell but it does more harm than good. It robs our skin of necessary proteins and oils that keep our skin moisturized and healthy. Keep the alcohol to your red wine, with it’s anti-aging elements- Drink up!
Watch out for home treatments, and systems to take care of your skin. One machine that you should never use at home is a Microdermabrasion System. This can be a very harsh treatment on your skin and is best left to the professionals. Until you can get to the Dermatologist, you can exfoliate your skin to keep it looking bright and toned.
Lastly, don’t try the DIY creams and lotions. While you may think you have the next best miracle cream, chances are you don’t. You can end up doing worse damage to your skin by trying homemade astringents and cleansers. Keep it simple and find the best products at the best value.
